Other than working in different small animal practices in Germany, she gained valuable experience working at the Community Clinic in Algoa Park for over 2 years, before she fulfilled her lifelong dream of running her own small animal clinic where she can instill her philosophy of Veterinary Science and Client Service. Dr. Steph lives with her 2 kids on a smallholding and shares her home with too many animals to mention them all!

LYN HOEKSEMA

Financial & HR Manager

Lyn has been in the veterinary world since 1978, starting with Dr. Hope’s Lorraine practice and continued with Lorraine Vet and Dr. Steph but has been told she is not allowed to retire until she turns Ninety! She is not just our Office Manager but also our “work mom”, she makes sure we are always happy and is always around for a hug and to put a smile back on our faces! Lyn shares her home with two rescued furries, a dog and a cat!

DR. Meghan Gombert

Vet

Dr Meghan is a passionate and dedicated veterinarian who completed her studies at the University of Namibia, qualifying in 2023. She first joined Lorraine Veterinary Clinic shortly after graduating, where she quickly became a valued member of the team. After a year with us, she went on to complete her compulsory community service in Smithfield, Free State, gaining further experience and insight into rural veterinary care. We’re thrilled to have her back with us on a permanent basis. Dr Meghan shares her life with two cats, Fufi and Savanna, and a lovable dog named Brodie, reflecting her deep love for animals both in and out of the clinic.

Dr. Lindi Van den Berg

 Vet

Dr Lindi graduated from Onderstepoort, Gauteng, in 2010. Over the years, she has gained extensive experience by working in various practices across South Africa, including Mossel Bay, Somerset West, and Port Elizabeth. Her diverse background has equipped her with a broad skill set required in the veterinary industry. Outside of her professional life, Dr Lindi spends time riding her horse and enjoys spending time with her two cats, Fiela and Nala.

Kelsey Hunter

Practice Manager

Kelsey became part of our team in late September 2018 and quickly earned the affectionate title of “Ray of Sunshine” from Lyn, thanks to her ever-present smile and positive energy. At home, she shares her life with two dogs and two cats, creating a lively and loving household. In 2019, Kelsey opened her heart to a young, critically ill puppy in need of care. Despite her initial intention to foster, she became a “foster failure” when she decided to make Leva—a now-beautiful and joyful Pitbull—her forever companion. Leva has since become Kelsey’s devoted shadow, always by her side and sharing in her infectious happiness. Beyond her work and home life, Kelsey is an avid equestrian who enjoys riding and competing with her horse, Captain Blu. Together, they participate in local events and national events, showcasing Kelsey’s dedication and passion for the sport.

Amy Lees

Assistant Practice Manager

Amy became part of our team in 2023 as a part-time receptionist and officially joined us full-time in 2024. With her warm demeanour and strong organizational skills, she quickly became an integral part of our front desk team. At home, Amy shares her life with a delightful mix of pets: a cat named Sweet-Pea, a dog named Bentley, and a bird named Solo. Her home is a lively and loving environment, reflecting her deep affection for animals.

Michele Nickisson

 Senior Receptionist

Michele has been a dedicated veterinary receptionist for many years, bringing a wealth of experience and a friendly, professional presence to the front desk. She has worked for both a respected specialist in town and a well-known local practice, giving her a strong understanding of the industry and the ability to handle just about any situation with confidence and care. Her passion for animals extends beyond the workplace—she is the proud owner of two beloved dogs, Jazz and Martin, who are never far from her side. Her warm demeanor and deep knowledge make her an invaluable part of any veterinary team.

ANDILE TUTU

Kennel Handler

Andile is part of the Veterinary World for close to 20 years already. He joined the practice in 2008 after he worked for many years at the Community Clinic in Algoa Park where he gained valuable experience. Andile is always around to give a helping hand. He knows how to handle our four-legged customers with patience and care– no matter how small or big.

PROSPER CHIRIPAOKO

Kennel Handler

Prosper joined the team in 2013 when he came from his home country, Zimbabwe. He has a real passion for all animals. Prosper has an amazing ability to connect with all patients and makes them feel at ease. He always strives to improve and willing to learn and is never seen without a smile.

NONI NDONGENI

Cleaner

In 2015, Noni joined our team. She can be found all over the practice and always has a smile on her face! She loves and cares for all our practice animals including Coral, the Chicken, even though the cats often give her a hard time!

TIGER

Tiger came to us in 2017 when he suffered severe injuries after a dog attack. He spent over a month in hospital, yet this brave young boy just had the will to live. His ideal day would be spent sitting on your lap and getting cuddles non-stop. Being our 3rd blood donor, Tiger is willing to help anytime as long as there is food available.

ALLEY

Alley was brought into the practice in 2013 suffering from a Parvovirus infection. Unfortunately, her owners were unable to afford treatment and they signed over ownership to us. Quickly we fell in love with her big brown eyes. Alley occasionally helps by donating blood to patients in need. She is definitely the Boss of the Backyard.

PORCINI, SHIITAKE & GRAY

This lovable trio joined our family in 2017. Just a few days after we had to let our beloved Fungi cross the Rainbow Bridge, Porcini and Shiitake were dropped off at reception. Being only about 2 weeks old, they were found under a trailer with no sign of their mum.

Porcini (female, black face with white nose) strikingly looking like Fungi and Shiitake (male, white and black face) received their names in honour of Fungi. Porcini will climb into your handbag for love and attention and is always ready for a cuddle.

Shiitake will love you to death and make you laugh with his silly antics (he strangely is obsessed with feet too!).

Gorgeous Gray joined the orphanage at about eight weeks of age was roughly the same age as our mushrooms then. She is very adventurous and cannot sit still but will always welcome a cuddle. Her name was meant to be Buttons (to align with the mushrooms) but we could not help ourselves calling her Gray!
